Job Description

The Area Production Engineer provides technical oversight and guidance to the equipment within their area. They are responsible for monitoring processes and equipment within their area, ensuring that safety, cost, and production targets are met. They work closely with other Operations staff, including production supervision, operators, quality, maintenance, and other personnel as needed to ensure that their area of the plant operate safely and efficiently.

Typical duties of the position may include but are not limited to:
Lead area activities to meet EHS. Quality, Cost, Delivery and Inventory goals.
Provide technical support for specific manufacturing units including monitoring performance metrics, troubleshooting, and investigating operating deficiencies.
Manage Process Safety Management (PSM) aspects including Management of Chance (MOC), Operating Instructions, and Pre-startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
Provide area subject matter expertise to all functions of the site (Maintenance, Quality, Manufacturing Technology, etc.)
Coordinate maintenance activities in the area in collaboration with Maintenance and Planning staff.
Establish effective communications throughout the area focused on sharing of information and engaging employees in the success of the facility.

Job Requirements

Required Skills
Education:BS, Chemical Engineering. Other engineering disciplines may be considered depending on experience.
Ability to communicate and work closely with team members throughout the organization.
Analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills required to detect and correct operational deviations.
Proficiency with MS Office applications.
SAP experience a plus.
Knowledge of batch and continuous reaction and distillation, including control systems, preferred.
Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or equivalent) preferred.

Required Experience:
Minimum of3 years' experience in a manufacturing plant (specialty chemical or petrochemical/refinery preferred).
Experience with the OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) regulation preferred.
