Job Description

IFF has an exciting opportunity for an Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Specialist at the IFF Jacksonville Florida site. The EH&S Specialist reports to the Site EH&S manager.

This position is shares responsibly for the overall implementation of site systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate EH&S standards with the EH&S Manager. The EH&S Specialist works closely with all facility personnel to ensure excellent EH&S performance and full compliance with requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
Manage site's EH&S policies that define requirements to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate EH&S standards.
Develop and implement improvements to safety systems to ensure compliance with requirements and continued improvement in EH&S performance. Manage EH&S projects as assigned.
Organize, lead, and participate in activities that promote employee ownership and engagement in EH&S.
Manage site incident investigation system, ensuring proper classification, thorough root cause investigations and appropriate corrective actions to prevent recurrence are implemented.
Provide in-plant support to site leadership, operators, mechanics, contractors, and technical staff to ensure proper safety evaluation is performed and work is completed within requirements. Manage site's Life Critical Permit Program.
Complete routine field line walks (observe and engage) to provide recognition, coaching, collaboration, and training.
Gather data and maintain systems to track necessary information for internal environmental, health, and safety reporting and to drive improvement in EH&S performance.
Develop and improve safety training to educate site personnel on EH&S-related issues. Ensure EH&S training is effective in sharing safety know-how needed to achieve world class safe operations.
Provide training and support as needed to all departments based on the annual EHS training program to implement the applicable IFF global regulatory policies.
Implement case management, working closely with site leadership and site's occupational health clinic to manage injuries to the lowest level possible. Ensure proper injury, illness classifications and OSHA record keeping is completed.
Manage site's industrial hygiene program
Coordinate annual medical exams, respirator evaluations, and respirator fit testing.
Ensure that clear and effective emergency plans are in place in such a way that risks for people and IFF are minimized. Update and maintain site's Emergency Response Plan.
Manage Jacksonville response teams which include Confined Space, HazMat, and Fire Brigade. Site contact with local Fire Department and coordinating tours as needed.
Key player in Jacksonville's Sustainability Green team
Other duties and projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree with five or more years EH&S experience.
Demonstrated EHS functional/technical expertise with strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations.
Excellent leadership skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Excellent interpersonal skills: demonstrated ability to work effectively, professionally and respectfully in a team-based environment to involve peers, customers, line management and technical competency experts.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to influence teams and resolve conflicts in support of organizational goals.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to train, coach, and mentor others.
Experience implementing & maintaining site wide safety related programs.
Computer and technical literacy; demonstrated skill in use of Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Excel).
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.
