Rate: $31/hr

PURPOSE - The Machinist designs, machines, and fabricates parts for machinery and/or production use, and to perform basic maintenance repairs on machinery and plant equipment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES - The following duties will be performed daily:

• Familiar with the set up and operation of all machine shop equipment, including mills, lathes, and CNC machinery.
• Produce finished spare parts for plant equipment.
• Determine correct machining methods based on material and cutting conditions.
• Be familiar with machining characteristics of various materials.
• Fabricates and machines parts from drawings, engineering requirements and sample parts.
• Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure compliance to specifications. (i.e., dimensional tolerances, and surface finishes, etc.)
• Understand use and function of various precision measuring devices. Determine correct measuring method based on specifications of prints, engineering requirements, and sample parts.
• Perform maintenance on machine shop equipment.
• Assists in project work.
• Troubleshoots and works on production/plant equipment when needed.
• Ability to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime and shift flexibility.

• Operates equipment and works safely, follows all GMP guidelines and keeps work area clean.
• Participates in meetings.
• Assist others with correct operation and use of simple shop equipment. (i.e., drills, saws, grinders, and sanders)
• Fills in for other positions as necessary.
• Other duties as assigned
• Additional responsibilities of this position includes assisting in the creation of a culture of safety and health by performing work safely in accordance with all company safety procedures. Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practice to supervisor. Occupational safety and health performance is measured in this position

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must have own hand tools to perform all job duties
