POSITION OVERVIEW AND PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

Project Overview:

The Department of the Navy, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, NAVFAC Southeast, has a requirement for Multi-Function Support Services (MFSS) for Naval Station (NS) Mayport, Florida. The services outlined encompass the following:

  1. Custodial Services
  2. Pest Control
  3. Integrated Solid Waste Management
  4. Grounds Maintenance and Landscaping and other related services

Position Overview:

The Pest Controller is responsible for performing pest control services at Naval Station Mayport, Florida; Defense Fuel Supply Point Jacksonville, Florida; U. S. Marine Forces Reserve Center Jacksonville, Florida; and the outlying areas supported by these commands.

This opportunity is for a POTENTIAL CONTRACT award and is contingent upon the contract being awarded. Consideration for a potential contract may require a signed letter of intent. If the contract is awarded, another position posting will be available on the Company Careers portal.

Primary/Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Perform pest control services in conformance with the Naval Station Mayport Integrated Pest Management Plan (IPMP), to prevent and control pests.
  • Create and submit a completed electronic Pest Management Record for each pest management operation, both chemical and non-chemical, e.g., pest survey, pesticide application, trouble call.
  • Use integrated pest management techniques utilizing nonchemical control techniques to the maximum extent possible
  • Control lawn, turf, and ornamental plant pests to ensure facilities are free of lawn, turf, and ornamental plant pests.
  • Provide animal carcass removal in and around buildings, alongside the roads, and perform odor control as part of pest control.
  • Provide effective pest control services to eliminate or suppress pest populations to within minimum threshold limits at Naval Station Mayport, Florida
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and base and contract requirements.
  • Apply pesticides in such a manner as to prevent toxic exposure of personnel, wildlife, ornamental plants (including on the Installation and adjacent land), and any other non-target components of the environment.
  • The technician shall monitor food facilities for rodent activity as a preventive program.
  • Must be fully knowledgeable of all safety, environmental, and energy requirements associated with the work they perform.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Must know the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
  • Must be fluent in English.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    • Ability to write simple correspondence.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram form.
  • Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in adverse situations.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Required to follow all company personnel and safety policies and perform all assigned duties in a safe work manner.

CLEARANCES, CERTIFICATIONS, TRAINING, ETC.

  • Must be certified by the State of Florida in the categories required to perform the work specified in this contract.
  • Must have completed an EPA-approved training program that includes written examinations in core and specific application categories. All work performed shall be in accordance with Federal, DoD, state, local, and installation policies and regulations. Proof of certification shall be provided.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record
  • Must possess a business license issued by the State of Florida to provide pest control services.
  • Must have a minimum of five years of pest control experience with application in commercial and food preparation facilities.
