This is for Shipbuilding or Ship repair Industry.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Project Manager is responsible for the proper administration, planning, scheduling and budget for assigned projects. Coordinates daily activities, resolves resource conflicts within the company, and resolves customer issues. The Project Manager 1 is an entry level project manager position that largely requires close guidance and on the job training to learn the tools and concepts associated with good project management principles. The scope of responsibility for this entry level Project Manager position is commensurate with that of smaller, less complex projects. With progressive training, development, and experience, the Project Manager 1 can be entrusted with projects of increasing size and complexity.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential Functions:

  1. Creates, maintains, and analyzes budgets, records, logs, and production schedules to ensure work is accomplished within budget and on time.
  2. Coordinates with craft supervision, Production Manager, Division Manager, QA, and Safety to ensure that planning requirements are established and met.
  3. Ensure Superintendents and project Supervision develop daily and weekly plans consistent with the overall project schedule.
  4. Coordinates with Supervision and subcontractors to ensure that schedule conflicts do not arise between different trades.
  5. Reviews and submits all condition reports to the customer, advising of cost and schedule impacts.
  6. Negotiates all contract changes with the customer.
  7. Facilitates daily production meetings with Superintendent, Supervisors, QA, and Safety to ensure that all aspects of the project are being planned and executed in a safe and productive manner.
  8. Allocate project resources efficiently.
  9. Forecast and drive towards estimates at completion, and accurately reports on project financial performance expectations.
  10. Serve as the primary point of contact for customer for all contractual matters.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

  7. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  8. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  9. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  10. Strong communication skills, including oral, written and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with subordinates, management, and customers.
  11. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  12. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  13. Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  14. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  15. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  16. Must have Microsoft Office Software experience, and knowledge of Microsoft Project is a plus.
  17. Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or other engineering fields preferred.
  18. Three to five years related marine, shipyard or industrial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  19. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  20. Must be able to gain access to military installations.
  21. Must successfully pass a drug screen and background investigation.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to tour all vessels, piers, docks, and work sites to perform the duties of this job. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus. (Ability to view computer monitors without eye strain for extended periods of time).
