Construction Director
The Construction Director, under the direction of the VP of Construction and Real Estate, is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of the home construction process from land preparation to house completion. This position is responsible for creating and managing a master home construction plan and schedule that maximizes the use of staff, affiliate assets, and volunteers to build homes of high quality and affordability. Additionally, the Construction Director is responsible for all construction staff training, ensuring that the construction staff has a clear understanding of their responsibilities and duties as well as their role in the overall mission of the organization. This position is also responsible for all aspects of the Homeowner warranty function including responding to Homeowner's warranty concerns, scheduling appointments, performing warranty repairs, and maintaining records of all warranty requests and repairs. The Construction Director is responsible for managing the construction warehouse operations, inventory management, facilities management and maintenance. The Construction Director oversees the home maintenance training program for HabiJax buyers, and leads the safety initiatives for homebuyers, staff, volunteers, and subcontractors. This position requires excellent interpersonal, organizational, leadership and communication skills, ability to use professional values and ethics to effectively interact with others, strong time management skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and a commitment to HabiJax's mission, vision, and values.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Direct and lead Construction staff activities and training to ensure that all departmental goals are met.
Participate in and support the achievement of organizational strategic goals and initiatives.
Work with the VP of Construction and Real Estate to design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive home building program consistent with the building needs and types appropriate to the community.
Create and manage a master construction plan and schedule that maximizes the use of staff, affiliate assets, and volunteers to build homes of high quality and affordability.
Manage and oversee all aspects of the home construction process from land preparation to house completion.
Manage and oversee all aspects of designated home repair projects as required.
Manage and oversee all aspects of the Homeowner warranty function including responding to Homeowner's warranty concerns, scheduling appointments, performing warranty repairs, and maintaining records of all warranty requests and repairs.
Manage and oversee all aspects of the construction warehouse operations, inventory management, vehicle maintenance, and facilities management and maintenance.
Manage and oversee the home maintenance training program for HabiJax buyers and lead the construction and warehouse safety initiatives for homebuyers, staff, volunteers, and subcontractors.
Perform construction site inspections as needed to verify staff-performed and subcontracted work is completed as instructed and specified.
Work with the VP of Construction and Real Estate to establish construction, warehouse, and safety policies, systems, and procedures; prepare and administer the construction department budget; schedule construction activities; and manager Construction staff performance and hiring consistent with HR policies.
Monitor and manage construction activities to maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, County Building Departments, and Florida Building Code ordinances and regulatory statutes.
Manage subcontractor and vendor performance and compliance.
Effectively manage costs and ensure good stewardship of funds and resources.
Partner with Family Engagement and Community Partnerships Departments to maximize the homebuyer and volunteer experience.
Prepare reports as needed on construction performance in terms of quality, cost, and production time on all construction products and services, warranty performance, cost containment & reduction, warehouse operation performance and cost, facilities maintenance and cost, equipment and vehicle cost, achievements, and volunteer utilization and satisfaction.
Be aware of and advocate for the mission, vision, and values of HabiJax and Habitat for Humanity.
Perform additional duties as required and directed.

Education, Experience, and Job Requirements
4-year degree or equivalent training in construction management
5+ years of successful construction management experience with a production residential home builder.
Experience in training, developing, and managing staff
OSHA 10- or 30-hour certification preferred but not required
First Aid & CPR certified preferred but not required
Florida residential, builder or general contractor license preferred but not required
Manage time effectively, multi-task & prioritize in order to meet established goals & deadlines
Computer proficiency to include the use of Microsoft Office and other required software applications
Decisive, flexible & work well under pressure when faced with unexpected situations or delays
Can analyze & resolve problems
Excellent organizational, leadership & communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with people of diverse backgrounds
Attention to detail and persistence in follow up; Strong sense of urgency
Knowledge of construction and real estate practices and terminology. Ability to read and understand blueprints and construction documents. Understand contracts, plans, construction methods & regulations
Valid Driver's License insurable by HabiJax's insurance carrier
Able to successfully pass a background and drug screening

Pay Rate:
The starting annual salary for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 based on experience. This position is eligible to earn performance incentives.

This is a full-time, exempt position. The standard hours for this position are Monday through Friday 7am-4pm.
