Position Description
  • Safety Director will be responsible for providing leadership, management, and oversight of Sauer Construction's safety program.
  • Must be a team player with a strong knowledge of USACE EM 385 1.1, 29 CFR 1910 and 29 CFR 1926.
Essential Functions
  • Travel between projects to ensure the Safety Program is being followed
    • Note:  Ability and willingness to travel frequently is a must
    • Must be able to drive and fly regularly
  • Develop Accident Prevention Plans for each new project
  • Work with SSHO and site team to properly set up the jobsite and team
    • Job Board and Site Documentation
  • Participate in all Incident Investigations
  • Perform safety audits that reflect both OSHA and government (USACE and NAFAC) inspection criteria
  • Provide strong safety leadership, oversite and guidance
  • Coordinate all safety reporting with Corporate Safety Director
  • Guide subcontractors through the preparation of government safety requirements
  • Effectively enforce all governing and company standards with the “Behavior Base Approach”
  • Daily communication with project teams
  • Able to pass security background check to enter posts
Qualifications
  • 7 years DOD experience
  • CSP or CHST certified
  • Higher education with a preference for a four year degree with relevant coursework
  • 30 Hour OSHA in construction
  • EM385 40 Hour
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Must be competent in the following disciplines;
    • Scaffolds
    • Fall Protection
    • Confined Spaces
    • Ladders & Stairways
    • Trenching & Excavations
Skills/Competencies
Able to perform the following activities:  standing, walking, climbing (ladder, scaffolding, steps, etc.), driving, lifting and carrying, kneeling, crouching and sitting.
